Miami Moon
Fresh off setting a world record (50 shows in 50 states in 49 days), and successful tours with The Allman Betts Family Revival and the Allman Betts Band, guitarist and songwriter Devon Allman (as in son of the late great Gregg) has just released his first solo LP in eight years on his own label, Create Records. The press release says “The album sounds like the past and the future colliding under neon pink Miami skies…funky, fresh, and soulful.” From what we’ve heard so far, we agree.

Good Looks
Lived Here For A While
The Austin band’s website proclaims “Good Looks write kindhearted and cathartic rock songs about the persistence required to make it through hard times.” And they’ve certainly seen their share. In the past couple years, their guitarist was hit by a car and seriously injured (and recovered), then a speeding driver rear-ended their tour van, which caught fire and burned up all their gear. Now, with a little luck (and some help from Sonic Guild), they’re back with ten new songs examining the nature of relationships, with pensive, smart lyrics, blazing guitars, amusing videos, and a scruffy, goodnatured charm you just can’t help but root for.

Sierra Green & The Giants
Here We Are
Known as “The Queen of Frenchmen Street,” Sierra Green has emerged as one of New Orleans’ most soulful and engaging singers. These songs deftly fuse her funky, native 7th Ward musical roots with classic soul horns and R&B riffs from Memphis and Detroit. She pays tribute with covers of Ann Peebles’ “Come to Mama” and The Meters’ “Break in the Road,” and Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good,” while confidently charting her own path forward as a self-proclaimed “old school throwback with modern flavor.”
